Course Overview
Basic Electric Car Maintenance Course with Hands-on
With the increasing popularity of electric and hybrid cars in Singapore, it’s important to understand how to maintain these electric vehicles to ensure their longevity and optimal performance. This electric car maintenance course aims to provide foundational knowledge and practical experience for individuals interested in electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) maintenance. Participants will learn about various systems, components, and operational principles, as well as safety procedures and tools required for routine servicing of EVs.
Who Should Attend
Workers currently working in the vehicular repair and maintenance industry, such as:
Self-sponsored individual learners who may be unemployed or may not be currently in the vehicular repair and maintenance industry, but are keen to embark on a career in this line
Junior/Assistant Mechanics
Workers for companies (in other sectors) that have a fleet of vehicles, who may be tasked to carry out basic maintenance of their vehicles
Supervisors and managers of the above staff
Those who have some working experience in the maintenance industry and wish to receive systematic training and WSQ certification for their skills

FAQs
FAQs
What are the key differences between maintaining a traditional petrol car and an electric vehicle?
Traditional petrol cars have complex internal combustion engines requiring regular oil changes, spark plug replacements, and exhaust system checks. Electric vehicles, on the other hand, have fewer moving parts, eliminating the need for many of these traditional maintenance tasks. This EV maintenance course will highlight the specific areas of focus for electric car maintenance, such as battery health, charging systems, and high-voltage safety. Learn more about our automotive course in Singapore.
Is this electric vehicle course eligible for SkillsFuture Credits?
Yes, this electric vehicle course is eligible for SkillsFuture Credits. Singaporeans can use their credits to offset the course fees, making this valuable training more accessible.
Do I need prior automotive experience to enrol in this electric car maintenance course?
No prior maintenance or technical work experience is required to enrol in this basic electric car maintenance course. It is designed to provide foundational knowledge for individuals with an interest in understanding and maintaining electric vehicles.
Will this course cover the safety aspects of working with electric vehicles?
Absolutely. Safety is a paramount concern when working with electric vehicles due to their high-voltage systems. This course on electric vehicles includes comprehensive training on high-voltage safety handling, WSH electrical hazard awareness, the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and electrical isolation procedures using the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) process.
What kind of certification will I receive after completing this EV maintenance course?
Participants who meet the attendance and assessment requirements of this electric vehicle course will receive a Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), a nationally recognised certification.
Can junior mechanics and assistant mechanics attend this course?
Yes. This course is suitable for junior mechanics and assistant mechanics who want to build foundational knowledge of electric and hybrid vehicles. It helps them understand EV/HEV systems, safety procedures, and basic maintenance practices, making it a useful starting point for those entering the EV servicing field.
Can fleet managers for company EVs benefit from this course?
Yes! Workers from companies in other sectors that have EV/hybrid fleets and are tasked with basic vehicle maintenance will greatly benefit. Understanding EV systems, safety procedures, and routine checks helps fleet managers make informed maintenance decisions and potentially handle basic upkeep in-house.
