NTUC Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

UTAP — What is the Union Training Assistance Programme?

UTAP is a training benefit for NTUC members to reduce their cost of training. This is to encourage more NTUC members to go for skills upgrading.

Under this scheme, NTUC members can enjoy 50% off course fees after subtracting the portion of course fees that are government-subsidized. Below is a table illustrating clearer how UTAP subsidy will factor into course fees.

Illustration:

WSQ Certificate in Workplace Safety & Health
(a) Full Course Fees (before Subsidy):*$1,000
(b) Less Government Subsidy (e.g. 90%)-$900
(c) Course Fee Payable (after Subsidy):$100
(d) Less UTAP Funding (50% of Course Fee payable after Government Subsidy):-$50
(e) You Pay:$50
*course fees are only for illustration purposes and may be subjected to changes

Important to Note:

  • Only NTUC Ordinary Branch (OB), General Branch (GB) and OB/UCLUB members who are paying $117/year will be eligible
  • 50% UTAP subsidy is capped at $250 annually for NTUC members aged 39 years old and below
  • 50% UTAP subsidy is capped at $500 annually for NTUC members aged 40 years old and above
  • UTAP is only eligible for courses attended between 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2022

William Chiam is an excellent trainer. He explains everything clearly in Food Safety Level 3, makes sure everyone understands the content by giving examples and recaps, and is patient and engaging throughout the training. Really enjoyed the session and learned a lot from him :)
He is exceptionally good at explaining complex regulations and concepts, he thoroughly breaks down every single topic and uses great real-world examples. If you want a knowledgeable, engaging, and dedicated Trainer William Chiam is the absolute best! Highly recommended!

I had signed up for the Bake Artisan and Decorative Breads course about 2.5 weeks before the course was due to begin. Two days before the course was due to commence, I was informed the course was postponed - no reason was provided.

After some back and forth with their customer service on trying to work out alternative dates for attendance, an appropriate replacement date for the course could not be found. Only when I specifically asked why the course was postponed, I was informed that several participants had dropped out at the last minute and the course no longer met the minimum number of participants required to run.

While this is somewhat out of the control of the organisation, overall this could have been communicated and managed better.
