CSSPB Course – Conduct Security Screening of Person and Bag

Security Screening Management (Conduct Security Screening of Person and Bag (CSSPB)) course equips security officers with apt skills and the ability to perform security screening of persons and bags. It is required for performing ad hoc event security duties i.e. F1, Thaipusam, New Year countdown, etc or at any access control location duties within a site, premise, checkpoint, or event venue.

Security Officers will be trained to:

  • perform security screening using a Walk-Through Metal Detector (WTMD) and Hand-Held Metal Detector (HHMD)
  • perform a manual screening of a person (using a pat-down) and conduct a manual bag search.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • LO1. Describe the key information required for Security Officer to perform Security Screening Duty Assignment
  • LO2. Demonstrate the procedures to perform operational checks on Security Screening Equipment
  • LO3. Demonstrate the procedures to prepare a person for Security Screening
  • LO4. Demonstrate the procedures to conduct Security Screening of Persons using a Walk-Thru Metal Detector and Hand-Held Metal Detector
  • LO5. Demonstrate the procedures to perform a manual screening (Pat-Down Search) of a person
  • LO6. Demonstrate the procedures to conduct a manual bag search
  • LO7. Demonstrate the procedures to conclude a Security Screening Duty

Security Screening Management (Conduct Security Screening of Person and Bag)

Course Content

This course will equip the learners with the knowledge and skills to screen persons and bags securely. The key topics that will be covered include the performance of security screening using a Walk-Through Metal Detector (WTMD) and Hand-Held Metal Detector (HHMD), performing a manual screening of a person (using a pat-down), and the conduct of a manual bag search. As directed by the Police Licensing and Regulatory Department (PLRD), completing this course is compulsory for all Security Officers who intend to / would be performing a security screening duty at any access control location within a site, premise, checkpoint, or event venue.

Who Should Attend

Learners meeting the following criteria are eligible for the course:

  1. Good Interpersonal Skills
  2. Learners who have completed the “Incident Response (Handle Security Incidents and Services)” and “Guard and Patrol (Provide Guard and Patrol Services)” courses and attained the Private Industry Security Licence from Police Licensing and Regulatory Department (PLRD)
  3. Learners with at least a Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) Certificate or equivalent qualification
  4. Learners are able to:
    • Listen and Speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the WSQ Employability Skills Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 3
    • Read and Write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the WSQ Employability Skills Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 3
    • Manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to the WSQ Employability Skills Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 3

Participants who fulfill all requirements will be certified with a Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
