Security Officer Courses required to get individual PLRD security officer license. These security guard courses falls under the Basic Licensing Unit (BLUs) to start your career in the security industry. Courses in these security training centres are eligible for SkillsFuture Credit & SkillsFuture Subsidy.

How to get a Security Officer License in Singapore

Under the Private Security Industry Act, all security officers are required to be individually licensed and certified for a security licence in Singapore.

Unless exempted by the Police Licensing and Regulatory Department (PLRD) of the Singapore Police Force, anyone who is keen to take on security officer jobs will have to take and successfully pass the 3 courses below to get the PLRD security licence.

  1. Guard and Patrol: Provide Guard and Patrol Services
  2. Incident Response: Handle Security Incidents and Services
  3. Threat Observation: Recognise Terrorist Threats

From 1 July 2023, the new training requirements to get the PLRD security license will be

  1. Guard and Patrol: Provide Guard and Patrol Services + Operate Basic Security Equipment
  2. Incident Response: Handle Security Incidents and Services
  3. Threat Observation: Recognise Terrorist Threats

Senior Security Officer and Security Supervisor
