1) How to Become a Security Officer (SO)

There are 3 steps become a Security Officer (SO)

  1. Apply for Security Officer Licence
  2. Attend 3 compulsory Security Officer Courses (Basic Licensing Units)

Once you become a Security Officer (SO), your salary will be protected under the Progressive Wage Model (PWM) under the Security Sector. Your Minimum Salary from 1 Jan 2022 will be $ 1,442.

2) From Security Officer (SO) to Senior Security Officer (SSO)

To be promoted to the next level of Senior Security Officer (SSO), there are 2 steps :

  1. Work at least 6 month as Security Officer
  2. Attend 3 certificate modules (SSO Courses)

The following are details of the SSO Courses.

Once you become a Senior Security Officer (SSO), your salary will be protected under the Progressive Wage Model (PWM) under the Security Sector. Your Minimum Salary from 1 Jan 2022 will be $ 1,633.

3) From Senior Security Officer (SSO) to Security Supervisor (SS)

After Senior Security Officer (SSO), you can next be promoted to Security Supervisor. Again, there are 4 steps :

  1. Working Experience of 1 year of more as a Senior Security Officer (SSO)
  2. Attended SSO Licensing unit course
    • Security Surveillance Management (Perform Remote Surveillance Function)
  3. Attend 1 Advanced Licensing unit course
    • Guard and Patrol (Supervise Security Officers Course)
  4. Attend 2 of the 3 Advanced Modules
    • Capability Development (Induct Security Personnel)
    • Security Operation Compliance (Perform Supervisory Duties within Legal Framework)
    • Security Risk Analysis (Assess and Address Security Risks)
