Course Overview

Stress Management and Mental Wellbeing Workshop

Why You Are Encouraged to Attend

Manage Stress — Mental Wellbeing Amidst Uncertainty teaches you how to build up your mental integrity against stress. Stress can be an uncontrollable creature that eats away at one’s self-confidence, ability to function, and general mental outlook. Originally a natural response to potential sources of danger in our environment, these days it has become a familiar, albeit harmful friend to us.

In our current societal climate characterised by high digital connection, increasingly nuclear social settings, and constant public health threats, stress has become everpresent to more and more people.

Effects of Stress

Indeed, the adrenaline from stress is beneficial to us in “fight or flight” situations. However, when our general mental outlook is poor, we can make even normal circumstances into “fight or flight” situations. The disadvantages of this, are namely:

  • Frequent Aches & Head Dizziness
  • Sudden Chest Pain
  • Fast Exhaustion
  • Insomnia
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Digestive Issues
  • Sexual Dysfunction
  • Weak Immunity
  • Prone to Anxiety
  • Prone to Depression
  • Prone to Panic Attacks & Melancholy
  • Potential Development of Unhealthy Habits such as Alcoholism, Gambling, or Overeating

Relieving & Managing Stress

It is not easy to deal with our inclination for stress, especially if we have grown up with and got used to it. To overcome it takes a strong resolve and constant mindfulness. However, for some people, a self-derived effort is not enough. Sometimes, professional input and the use of clinically-backed strategies are required for one to overcome stress.
