Security Guard Course (PGPS)
Security Guard Course for learners who wish to gain more knowledge in security services and get a security officer job in the private security industry in Singapore.
Aspiring security guards will be trained to perform basic security duties and what is expected on them when they are deployed onsite in this PGPS course. The learners will also be orientated on executing duties such as patrolling and handling phone calls according to organisational standards.

After successfully completing this course, the learner will be equipped with apt industry-specific skills and knowledge to be able to perform security duties effectively and professionally.

Course Content
This course, WSQ Provide Guard and Patrol Services (PGPS), is a mandatory unit for Security Officers. This course will equip learners with essential knowledge and application skills in providing guard and patrol services and apply them to their workplace in various ways such as:
- Prepare work activities.
- Guard static positions.
- Handle telephone calls and lost-and-found properties.
- Patrol premises.
- Make reports and hand over duties.
For Whom
New entrants to the security industry
Entry Requirements
- Able to listen, read, write and speak English at WPLN Level 2 or equivalent
- Those that do not meet the entry requirements will be subjected to interview before acceptance.
Course Duration and Timings:
- 16 training hours (2 days) 0900hrs to 1800hrs daily
- Assessment by POLWEL – 2nd day (2 hours)
- Assessment format : Role-Play and Oral Questions
Certification
Participants who fulfil all requirements will be certified with a Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
The other 2 compulsory security courses for Security Officer (SO) are Incident Response (HSIS) and Threat Observation (RTT). After completing these 3 basic security modules, you can then Apply for the Security Licence.
