Handle Security Incidents and Services (HSIS) trains security personnel with knowledge and skills to handle challenging incidents according to the classification of the occurrence. Learners will also be trained in addressing the situation according to organisational standards.

To equip candidate to be deployed as security officers this is 2nd basic module.

HSIS Course Content

This unit will equip learners with essential knowledge and application skills in handling security-related incidents effectively and efficiently and apply them to their workplace in various ways such as:

  1. Containing incidents of damage to facilities and equipment.
  2. Handling fire-related incidents.
  3. Handling crime-related incidents.
  4. Handling medical or first-aid related incidents.
  5. Handling bomb or Improvised Explosive Device (IED) threat incidents.
  6. Searching, apprehending and arresting suspects.
  7. Giving evidence in court.

New entrants to the security industry

Entry Requirements

  • Able to listen, read, write and speak English at WPLN Level 2 or equivalent
  • Those that do not meet the entry requirements will be subjected to interview before acceptance.

Course Duration and Timings:

  • 24 training hours (3 days) 0900hrs to 1800hrs daily
  • Assessment by POLWEL – 3rd day (2 hours)
  • Assessment format : Role-Play and Oral Questions

Certification

Participants who fulfil all requirements will be certified with a Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).

The other 2 compulsory security courses for Security Officer (SO) are Provide Guard & Patrol (PGPS) and Threat Observation (RTT).  After completing these 3 basic security modules, you can then Apply for the Security Licence.
