Course Objectives
Commercial drone training is designed for individuals who wish to join the rapidly growing drone / unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) industry as a drone operator.
Once students complete the WSQ Aerial Surveillance with Drones and WSQ Unmanned Aircraft Technology and Piloting Courses, they will be competent to attempt the CAAS Unmanned Aircraft Pilot License UAPL (Unmanned Aerial Pilot Licence) theory test, mock test, and practical assessment conducted by a UATO- Drone Element.

1st Course: WSQ Aerial Surveillance with Drones
If you are interested in obtaining a UAPL certificate, this foundation course is compulsory. This course will teach students how to operate a UAV safely, building essential aerial surveillance and drone flying skills necessary for the WSQ Unmanned Aircraft Technology & Piloting course. It will also cover the legal, operational, and safety considerations and requirements behind the planning and execution of aerial surveillance/inspection operations.
(Note: participants wanting to operate the drones for commercial purposes will still be required to attain an Unmanned Aerial Pilot Licence (UAPL) / registration with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) after attending this course.)
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Describe the different types of drones and functionalities used in security surveillance today.
- Complete relevant documentation relating to remote drone surveillance operations.
- Set up drones for surveillance purposes.
- Operate drones for surveillance purposes.
- Maintain the drones and their detachable surveillance equipment.
- Escalate abnormal behaviours to appropriate authorities and enforcement teams.
- Set up an unmanned aircraft mounted with an aerial camera system and equipment according to local aviation regulations (CAAS).
- Operate the drone safely and competently, following the promulgated rules, regulations and safety protocol pertaining to drone flights.
- Produce aerial captures according to technical and aesthetic requirements using camera controls and settings.
- Manoeuvre aerial camera system and equipment according to a shot list and flight plans to achieve production styles and technical requirements.
Mode of Training
This course is conducted in person, in a classroom setting, providing an interactive and engaging learning experience, along with practical hands-on training at an approved open field site.
Theory lessons will be conducted at Coursemology Toa Payoh centre, while practical training sessions will be held in person at Sin Ming View Open Field.

2nd Course: WSQ Unmanned Aircraft Technology & Piloting Course
Our UAV course aims to prepare students with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills of a professional Unmanned Aircraft (UA) Pilot, which are necessary to prepare for the UAPL Class A Rotorcraft (Limited to Multi-Rotor Up to 7kg) assessment.
The course will also equip the learners with additional skills in ground preparation, operating an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) with the latest technology and handling UAVs in a simulated indoor environment and GPS-deficient situations. It will also provide industry knowledge on utilising UAV technology. It enables students to gain an in-depth understanding of how to operate a UAV safely and develop crucial hands-on proficiency through practical flight exercises.
Mode of Training
This course is conducted in person, in a classroom setting, providing an interactive and engaging learning experience, along with practical hands-on training at an approved open field site.
Theory lessons will be conducted at Bugis Junction Office Tower or online, while practical training sessions will be held in person at Kallang Riverside Park Open Field (Kampong Bugis).

- At least 1 GCE ‘N’ Level Pass
- At least 1 year of working experience in any capacity
- Able to speak, listen, and read English at a proficiency level not lower than the Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualification Workplace Literacy Level (WPL Level 3)
*Learners who do not qualify in terms of education but have relevant working experience will be admitted on a case-by-case basis, subject to approval by the Management Representative (MR).
